Sentinel Blog Tour: Pure Day & 5 Things I asked JLA.

Hello!
Welcome to my stop in the Sentinel Blog Tour by the awesome Jennifer L. Armentrout!
To see the full schedule and stop by the other blogs, just click go to Stuck In Books.

Today is Pure day! and I so honored to feature this book because this was Seth's book (sorry, still, after all I am Team Seth, though I really love Aiden), and Pure was a great birthday present from my friend Angela @ Reading Angels... and to be fairly honest, Pure is my favorite book of the series!

There is need. And then there is Fate.
Being destined to become some kind of supernatural electrical outlet isn't exactly awesome--especially when Alexandria's "other half" is everywhere she goes. Seth's in her training room, outside her classes, and keeps showing up in her bedroom--so not cool. Their connection does have some benefits, like staving off her nightmares of the tragic showdown with her mother, but it has no effect on what Alex feels for the forbidden, pure-blooded Aiden. Or what he will do--and sacrifice--for her.
When daimons infiltrate the Covenants and attack students, the gods send furies--lesser gods determined to eradicate any threat to the Covenants and to the gods, and that includes the Apollyon--and Alex. And if that and hordes of aether-sucking monsters didn't blow bad enough, a mysterious threat seems willing to do anything to neutralize Seth, even if that means forcing Alex into servitude--or killing her.
When the gods are involved, some decisions can never, ever be undone.

1. As an author, I think you put a lot of your own feelings in the lines you’re writing. How do you feel when you’re creating those wonderful stories?
You become very attached to the story and characters, and in a way,  they are real to you. So a lot of feelings are invested. I hope people get 'feels' when they read a novel of mine. I try to think of how I would feel in the situation, etc.

2. Do you write with a playlist?
I think I'm the only author who doesn't keep a playlist

3. I am a freaky, obsessive, perfectionist, cover lover. And I really LOVE all the covers of your book, but specially The Covenants’ ones. Do you think they match with the story?
Yes! The covers are so unique and standout. The publisher did a great job with, especially since the flowers do come up in the books.

4. I f you could put 2 of your characters in a scene with other 2 character from another book, which those characters could be?
Alex from Covenant Series and Daemon from the Lux Series in a training room on Deity Island. THAT should be interesting.

5. You are now one of the most popular authors in the blog-o-sphere, because of your great books. Why would you recommend them? (not as an author, but as a reader).
Aw thanks! To be honest, I'm terrible at telling people why they should read my books. I guess I'd recommend them because they're pure brain candy--romance, action, mystery, romance... See? I suck at this.

Interview with Steve Cypert, author of Scapemaker

Hallo everyone!
Thanks for stopping by The reader lines. Today, I'd like to introduce you Steve V. Cypert, the author of Scapemaker.
I hope you enjoy this interview and look forward to read this amazing book.

About the book.

Matthew is the son of Mr. Nicholas Namely, a local high school teacher. But unbeknownst to Matthew, his father is a dreamscaper whose classroom is connected to the dream-world. From his classroom, his students enter the halls of Scapemaker, a dream-world high school for young dreamscapers.
Following a couple of heartfelt tragic events, Matthew is compelled to investigate the unbelievable mysteries surrounding those events and is propelled into a whole new world. Matthew and his mother, Mae, are soon coerced into moving across the country for his father's strange medical needs. While attending his new school, Matthew comes to know the secrets that Daedree, an annoying girl from his former high school, has locked away. Matthew also meets Amber, a beautiful enigmatic girl who leads him to Mr. Xoner's classroom. While there, he learns the art of dreamscaping (which has been in the Namely bloodline for thousands of years).
Matthew will come to know of Nox Celare, otherwise known as The Sandman, who is after a special element called Magineum. Neck deep in skinwalkers, sandsleepers, zombies, soul feeders, ghosts, dream-world criminals known as “night terrors” and more, Matthew learns he is in over his head. Matthew must not only solve the mysteries surrounding those tragic events, but he will also have to protect the Magineum with his life and find a way to be with the one girl of his dreams. Filled with secrecy, mystery and a forbidden tangle of young love, this new life will lead Matthew to unbelievable characters with the most extraordinary abilities he could never have imagined.
Scapemaker will keep you grounded in the real world while at the same time make the fantastical world around it that much more possible and enduring. This tale of young adult paranormal fantasy will keep you guessing and wanting more.

1. Can you tell us a curiosity about Scapemaker?

An interesting fact about the fictional high schools I named in Scapemaker is that they are inspired by real schools. In the book I used the names Privera, North Park, and Whitmonte to symbolize the schools I grew up in and around. I personally grew up in a city called Pico Rivera in Southern California. The high school I actually attended is called El Rancho—a Hispanic name—or “The Ranch”, in English. Neither name really fit for me. But, since El Rancho is located in the city of Pico Rivera, I decided to combine Pico and Rivera for the name of that fictional high school, and that’s how I came up with Privera High.
Whittier High was El Rancho’s real life rival in football when I was in high school but I used the name Whitmonte to symbolize that school.
And finally, I attended a middle school called North Park, a few blocks from where I grew up. I kept the name, but it actually symbolizes the true location of a high school in the state of Utah and the city of Kamas called South Summit High.

2. Is there a thing that we aren’t expecting while reading Scapemaker?

There are several twists and turns that you won’t be expecting but I can’t mention them here. I don’t want to give anything away. There are also some hidden clues within the book, some of which indicate things that will happen in the following books since Scapemaker is only the first book in a series of four.

3. Do you think that we’ll find a new “book boyfriend” in Matthew?

That is a possibility, but I think this particular book introduces Matthew in a different light. I think in the next few books he may be seen as the “boyfriend” type. But, for now, in my view, I don’t feel that Matthew developed into someone of that quality by the end of the story.

4. Can you describe your book in one Word?

I really don’t know if one word will do it justice. It’s a complicated story, but complicated may have a negative connotation. I think the best word would be adventurous. Though, a few good runners up would be dreamy, fantastic, contagious, or artistic.

5. If you could create a scene between two characters of your book with characters from another. Who’d you pick?

In light of my vision for this question and what I have thought about in the recent past, I am only going to use one character from Scapemaker and one from another book—though, not my own.
I am very intrigued by “the bad guy” and the personality of a true antagonist. There are a few different antagonists in Scapemaker and the series as a whole. However, the one that is most focused on in Scapemaker (Scapemaker #1) is Hunter, a “night terror”. I would love to create a seen shared between Hunter and Voldemort. I would love to see them scheme together. Though, Voldemort does have a more commanding personality.

6. Is there anything that we “have” to know about Matthew?

Matthew has obvious weaknesses for a reason. He’s strong, but afraid. He is prideful and self-indulging, but he has potential to become heroic.

7. How did you get the idea of writing about dreamscapers?
I wrote a story when I was 16 years old about a boy and his imaginary friend. This boy had a great imagination. One day his father fell into a coma. The boy realized through a dream that his father had been taken by The Sandman, an evil creature of the dream-world. In the end, the boy would somehow claim back his father. I never finished the story and never will, since I used pieces of that story to mold Scapemaker.
I have always been fascinated by dreams and all the “what ifs” – like, what if you could enter the dream-world consciously? What if one day the things in your dreams actually affected your real-life? What if all dreams had a deeper meaning? What if the “good and evil” fighting within us each day was literally fought within our dreams? What if…?

8. When did you realize that you wanted to be an author?

Without going into a long story, I realized at a young age that I wanted to be an author. I remember pretty vividly walking through the playground at my middle school and pondering all the possible combinations of things, locations, characters, etc. there is in telling a story. Besides the spelling and grammar there really are no rules. The only obligation I, as an author, have is an accountability for my own imagination and, if I want to make a living—the audience. That’s pretty cool.

9. Can you tell the Readers a little about you?

My name is Steve V Cypert. I grew up in Los Angeles, California, USA. At age 19 I served a 2 year mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in the Ohio, Cleveland Mission. During that time, I taught the gospel and that was it. I did not date or go to movies or concerts. I woke up at 6am every single day and studied the scriptures. After my mission, I came home and shortly after moved to Utah. Since then I have graduated with a 4 year degree from the University of Utah. I got married to my wife, Katie, and had a son. That is what has made me who I am today.
My favorite color is green. My “lucky” number is 4. We have a little shih tzu named Duke. I love mint chocolate chip ice-cream. My favorite dinner will have a medium-rare 12-16 ounce steak or prime rib. I am a movie fanatic. I am actually a semi-professional photographer and sell, at times, landscape, wild and zoo life images.

10. Why do you recommend Scapemaker? (as a reader!)

This book is for all ages, without drug use, smoking, drinking or sexual situations. Scapemaker is extremely adventurous. I have re-created several types of characters such as vampires, known in my book as soul-feeders. I also created a few knew character types such as night terrors and sand sleepers.
I admit, this is not the best literary work ever created, but there are twists and turns and things you just would not expect. You can get lost in a whole new world that may actually seem possible.

11. What can we expect in the next book?

Scapemaker part 2 is called Soul-Feeders. You can expect a much faster pace in Soul Feeders when it is completed. The entire outline has been finished in great detail. I will begin writing it in the coming months.
I am also working on a new stand-alone called When the Bough Breaks, a semi-paranormal drama. When the Bough Breaks is meant to be a heartbreaking and touching story.

12. Where can we find you and your books?

You can find me and Scapemaker and other books I have written at the following locations / links:

Please, feel free to follow, comment, share, message, or link to me, Scapemaker, and my pages!

Thank you so much for having me.

About the Author.

Steve is the second child of seven born in Los Angeles, California to a wonderful mother and father. Born into the LDS faith, Steve served a 2 year full-time LDS mission at the age of nineteen in the northern half of Ohio.
At twenty-four he moved from his parents’ home in Los Angeles to Salt Lake City, Utah to try out life on his own. 2 decades later he still lives in Utah, where he found and married his beautiful wife, Katie.
Today they live in South Jordan, Utah with their bald little 6 month old son, Ozzie and their very hairy son, Duke - a three year old Shih Tzu (see Steve’s blog for a photo).
Before fining his [mostly] sweet wife, Steve graduated from LDS Business College in 2000. He then moved on to the University of Utah where he graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Mass Communications three years later.
For as long as he can remember, Steve has loved to come up with creative and far-fetched stories. Sometime in the early 2000's, he decided to put one of his story ideas on paper. He wrote a poem titled "Pirate and Captain". The poem was an adventurous tale. He then decided to write the story as a novel. He wrote "Port of Errors" in just three months. However, it took him nine years to research, edit and put the missing pieces together. Port of Errors will eventually be a trilogy under the name "Born of Tyranny”.

Rock On! The author of December: Elizabeth Norris (Interview!)

Welcome to the celebration of my favorite books of this year.
Each day, I will be featuring my favorite book and author of each month. And at the end of this celebration you'll have the chance to win a hardback copy of a book by one of my favorite authors.

In the last day of this year I knew I had to end up my celebration of the best of 2012 with something fantastic.
So, I picked Elizebeth Norris with her book Unraving which I read at the on early December.
And Liz was, as JLA, so kind to give me an interview for this lovely blog.
That's why to do this feature even better. I AM GOING TO GIVE THE WINNER OF THE GIVEAWAY A SECOND BOOK.
Yes, the winner of my giveaway will pick 2 books of my favorite reads of 2012. (Thanks to Addie for her donation)

Elizabeth Norris briefly taught high school English and history before trading the southern California beaches and sunshine for Manhattan's recent snowpocalyptic winter.
She harbors dangerous addictions to guacamole, red velvet cupcakes, sushi, and Argo Tea, fortunately not all together.
Her first novel, UNRAVELING (Balzer+Bray, April 2012), is the story of one girl’s fight to save her family, her world, and the one boy she never saw coming.
Find her: Website/ Twitter.

As usual, my questions are almost the same, cause I REALLY want to know this things about my favorite authors.
Thanks to Liz Norris for this interview.
Here you are...

1. As an author, I think you put a lot of your own feelings in the lines you’re writing. How do you feel when you’re creating those wonderful stories?

You're so right. A lot of my own feelings go into my writing which means the scenes I'm writing often affect my mood. If I have to write a sad scene sometimes I get really depressed. There were a few scenes in Unraveling, one in the middle and one near the end, and I cried through both of them.

2. Do you write with a playlist?

I did. I always put together a playlist when I first start working on a project. Music helps inspire me. "We are Broken" by Paramore was inspiring for Unraveling.

3. I am a freaky, obsessive, perfectionist, cover lover. And I really LOVE the cover of Unraveling. Do you think it match with the history?

Thanks! I was so excited with the cover concept. I thought it really reflected how I thought of the book. (The numbers in the background definitely work well with the countdown!) I also really love the UK cover. I really lucked out with the cover gods!

4. I f you could put 2 of your characters in a scene with other 2 characters from another book, which those characters could be?

I'd love to put Janelle and Barclay into Kristin Cashore's fantasy world and have them meet Katsa and Po. I think they'd get into trouble together but also have a cool adventure.

5. Why would you recommend Unraveling? (Not as an author, but as a reader).

I love it because of the mystery, the twists, and of course the romance.

6. Could you tell your readers a little about you, when you’re not writing?

I'm a little boring. I read a lot of books and watch a lot of TV. Right now I'm obsessed with Homeland (the suspense!), Scandal (the romance!), and Vampire Diaries (Damon!). I love animals, especially dogs--I babysat a chihuahua puppy last weekend while his owners were gone and he was such a little devil but he's so cute. I'm also always on a mission to find the best chocolate ever.

7. Are you planning on writing on another genre in the future?

Yes, after Unbreakable, my next novel is a contemporary mystery for YA. At some point I'd also love to write an adult novel with a magical realism element.

For the giveaway, you have the chance to win a Hardback copy of one of the books featured in this celebration.

Of course, it was impossible that I didn't have at least one book by her in this celebration.

And here you are.

Thanks to JLA!

Hi, Michelle! Welcome to The Reader Lines. I really want to know about you, and about your life behind the pages. So, here we go.

What kind of girl were you, when you were in school?

I didn’t fit into any particular group. I was nomadic when it came to social circles. I was also a cross between a wild child and a nerd. I loved school and I loved learning. I was in Honors courses, on the school newspaper and yearbook staffs, but I also like going out on the weekends—dancing, hanging out with friends, or “cruising” the downtown area of our small town in Oklahoma.

Did you have any crush when you were younger? I mean the actor, book character or musician kind.

I was in love with Simon Le Bon from Duran Duran. My friends claimed the other members of the band, but I Simon was mine—and I had the Tiger Beat posters to prove it. Is it sad to admit that I follow Simon on Twitter?

How do you feel when you’re writing?

Writing is a strange combination of wonderment and frustration. I love creating the world, the characters, the story, but writing is hard work. Writing the book the first time doesn’t mean I’m done, either. There are revisions, and revisions, and revisions, then copy edits and galley read-throughs, and all the elements that come after the book is “done.” All the same, I love writing.

Do you write with a playlist?

I have what I think of as my fallback music, playlists of songs I loved when I was a teenager that help me remember what it felt like when I was in those stages of exploring who I was and who I wanted to be. (Honestly? I think I’m still figuring that out!) Then I have music I’ll listen to as inspiration—not necessarily related to the book, but for the creative ju-ju. I also have certain bands I like to play because they sound so angry (and somehow all that angsty screaming makes me feel better).

What’s your favorite movie?

Wow. I don’t think I can narrow it to just one. A couple of my favorites are “While You Were Sleeping” and “The Princess Bride.” I also loved “Darjeeling Limited.” I really love action movies and I’ve seen “The Matrix” too many times to count.

What about your favorite band or solo-singer?

Currently, I’m in love with Mumford & Sons and Florence + the Machine. But, you know, my heart will always belong to Duran Duran.

Do you believe that the zombies and vampires really exist? (I said vampires, because you know, you can kill a vampire if you inject it with zombie blood.)

Never say never! I think the world is full of mystery and wonder and possibilities. I’ve never met a vampire (that I know about), and I haven’t had the opportunity to see a zombie (but I don’t hang out in graveyards at night).

I am a freaky, obsessive, perfectionist, cover lover. And I really like the cover of Undeadly. Do you think it matches with the history?

Thank you! I’m in love with the cover, too. I think the cover is a great match for the book, not only for the look and “feel” of who Molly is, but also the tone. The background is much how I envision the Shallows, the place between worlds that reapers use to escort souls into the underworld.

If you could put 2 of your characters in a scene with 2 characters from another book, which characters would they be?

I think I would put Molly and Rath in a scene with Alice and the Red Queen from Alice in Wonderland. That would be fun!

Who’s your favorite author?

I love reading, and I have a lot of favorites. In the YA genre, that includes Richelle Mead, Daniel Marks, Michelle Rowen, Lauren Kate, and Veronica Roth. Other favorites include Neil Gaiman, Christopher Moore, Terry Pratchett, Charlaine Harris, and MaryJanice Davidson.
Can you tell your readers a little more about you, please?

I’ve known that I wanted to be a writer since the age of 12 and worked toward that goal every day since then. I have three children, I’m marrying my Viking in December (woo-hoo), and I think chocolate should be consumed EVERY SINGLE DAY. I also like animals, which explains why I have six of them (three cats and three dogs).

Why would you recommend Undeadly?

It’s a different take on zombies and ghosts and death. Molly has a snarky, fun attitude, Rath is super hot, and reapers are real. It’s a fun place to visit—and you might even want to live there!

The Gossip 5…

Do you like Robert Pattinson?

Yes. I think he’s a great actor, and I enjoyed watching him in Twilight and Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire.

Have you seen all the Harry Potter movies?

Yes. I’m a huge fan of the Harry Potter series. I’ve read all the books and I’ve seen all the movies, both are wonderful experiences.

Are you (as well) in love with Christian Gray?

I haven’t read any of the E.L James’ books, so I don’t really have an opinion about him.

Did you have imaginary friends as a child?

No, but I had a big imagination. I was always telling stories.

Who’s your favorite fictional character?

It’s difficult to pick just one, but I think Alice from Alice in Wonderland is one of my all-time favorite fictional characters.

Wow! how awesome!
This was Michelle Vail guys! Thanks a lot for stopping by!

Interview with Diana Nixon, author of Love Lines

Hallo readers! Today I have the honor to talk a little with the awesome Author Diana Nixon, she was so kind to stop by and tell us about her and about her books.
Hope you enjoy with us!

Hi Diana! thanks so much for stopping by my blog.
I really want to do this interview with you, and I’d like to know a little more about you when you aren’t writing.
For starters
1.       Talking as a reader, why would you recommend Love lines?
It’s a story about beautiful love and true friendship, never ending fight between good and evil, adventures, mysteries and magic. I would recommend this book for all the fans of young-adult paranormal romance, fantasy and love at first sight.

2.       Do you have (now) a crush with any character?
There are so many good books and amazing characters that it’s really hard to pick one of them.

3.       How old were you when you fell in love for the first time?
Frankly, I don’t remember:) About 15 years old, maybe. Though I do remember that it was a wonderful love story:)

4.       Do you have pets? In any case, what person (fictional or real) would you like to name your pet after?
I do have a cat, a golden Briton. His name is Mouse. Kind of offending name for a cat, I know:) But it suits him perfectly.

5.       What kind of music do you like to listen when you’re writing?
It depends on my mood. Sometimes I listen to something alternative, like the Lifehouse band, and sometimes I like pop.

6.       Do you speak any other language?
My native languages are Russian and Belorussian. And I also speak English, Polish and Spanish.

7.       My common question. If you could put 2 of your characters in a scene with 2 characters of other book. Who could be those characters?
A very unusual question, I should say:) Well, let me think... Maybe Kaidan from Sweet evil by Wendy Higgins and Daemon from Obsidian by Jennifer L. Armentrout with my Eileen and Amanda. Though I’m not sure about the scenario of that scene:) Something romantic or some fight of their super powers?.. Yes, I would choose the last option, as I can’t really imagine my characters having any romantic relationship with the strangers.

8.       Can you tell your readers about you as a writer?
First of all, I write stories I would love to read myself. I don’t like too slow developments, so all my books get to the meat of the plot from the very beginning. Every time I’m describing some place or some situation I’m trying to make it real, so the readers could have a very clear picture in their minds. I like to compose funny dialogs and add more mysteries to every my book.

9.       What can you tell about Love lines, where the name came? Things like that.
When I was thinking about writing a book, I wanted to create some good and romantic story with something very special and different from most of the stories of the same kind. I was thinking about the way my character’s relationship would be developed and then I came up with the idea of their magical bond and those lines they had on their palms. It made my story more mysterious. Everything is based on people’s emotions, worries and experiences. The inner world of my characters is very diverse. They are all different and I tried to show just how their unique personalities would coexist. Adding some flowers’ descriptions and sophisticated spells I wanted to make my book recognizable and memorable.

10.   Is there any kind of book that you’d love to write in the future?
I’m thinking of writing a trilogy about guardian angels. I’m working on its plot and want to make it different from everything you have ever read. I hope I will succeed:)

11.   Where can readers stalk you?
Here are some links:
My official page - http://diananixon.webs.com/
             My Goodreads page - http://www.goodreads.com/diananixon
             My Facebook page - http://ru-ru.facebook.com/people/Diana-Nixon/100003576573933

Okay, now, go to the 5 crazy questions.
1.                   Have you read TMI by Cassie Clare?
I read only the first book and still hope I will find some time to finish this series.
2.                   Do you like dystopian books?
Not really:)

3.                   Which is your favorite Holiday?
Definitely Christmas. I like everything about this Holiday, including trimming the tree and making presents.
4.                   Do you like Orlando Bloom?
Lol, it IS a crazy question! I’m not his biggest fan, but I like his movies.
5.                   Have you ever thought about being a model, actress, or singer… the typical dream job?
Well, I’m not tall enough to be a model and I’m not brave enough to be an actress or a singer. I’m a lawyer by profession and I’m a writer by heart:) This is what I like most.

Okay, that’s all I let you in peace now!
Thanks so much for taking the time to answer my silly questions!
Best of wishes!
