Play my book #4 Shift by Jeri Smith-Ready

Play my book is a blog segment created by Nox-Invictus.
This feature is for book and music lovers. It’s about posting a song that you can relate to a book, a song from an author’s playlist, or one mentioned in the book you’re reading. So you can have the perfect “soundtrack” of that book.

This week, since I don’t do much re-reading, I decided I wanted to re-read Shift, my favorite book from the Shade trilogy by Jeri Smith-Ready.
This book always made me cry because Logan became my favorite dead character, but more than that, it was because of that book that I started loving the band Snow Patrol.
When I read Shift for the first time and saw that Logan sang the song “Run” I practically ran to my computer and looked for this song.
I loved it, there’s not much to say about it.
So, here you are. My first “Play my book” is Run by Snow Patrol, featured in Shift by Jeri Smith-Ready.

The book mention.

“Anyway, this is by a band that used to be
our favorite, Snow Patrol.”
Josh strummed a series of soft chords,
joined soon by Corey tapping on the
drums. Heather played the melody on the
bass, which gave it an even more somber
tone than the original lead guitar version.
“Run” was a song about grasping for
happiness just out of reach, about endless,
temporary good-byes. A song only a ghost
should sing.

The song.

Play my book #3 The lost saint by Bree Despain.

This time I want you to know this song exactly written for werewolves. Some time ago I read the book The lost saint by Bree Despain and I was really surprised cuz I liked it a lot, even though I didn't enjoyed The dark divine.
At the same time, I met for the first time, the amazing song Howl by Florence and the Machine, and I can't help but think this book and this song belong together.

This is the fragment of The lyric where I think about this book.

Howl by Florence + The machine
Visit the band's website.

If you could only see the beast you've made of me
I held it in but now it seems you've set it running free
Screaming in the dark, I howl when we're apart
Drag my teeth across your chest to tast your beating heart

My fingers claw your skin, try to tempt my way in
You are the moon that makes the night for which I have to howl
My fingers claw your skin, try to tempt my way in
You are the moon that breaks the night for which I have to

Howl, howl
Howl, howl

Now there's no rolling back, I'm aching to attack
My blood is singing with your voice, I want to pour it out
The saints can't help me now, the ropes have been unbound
I hunt for you with bloodied feet across the hallowed ground

Like some child possessed, the beast howls in my veins
I want to find you and tear out all of your tenderness

Play my book #2 Where she went by Hayle Forman

Where she went by Gayle Forman is one of my favorites books. And specially because of the music. So, this time there is a song that always makes me think of this book, this story and the plot. This song is Before the worst by The Script.
If you have read the book you know why.
And if you want to check out this amazing song, click "HERE" to watch the video in Youtube.
Now, I show you the lyric.

We were sitting with our backs against the world
Saying things that we thought but never heard
Who would have thought it would end up like this?
Where everything we talked about is gone
And the only chance we have of moving on

Is try to take it back
Before it all went wrong

Before the worst, before we mend
Before our hearts decide
It's time to love again
Before too late, before too long
Lets try to take it back
Before it all went wrong

There was a time, that we'd stay up all night
Best friends talking till the daylight
Took the joys alongside the pain
With not much to loose, but so much to gain

This week, I'll present you a song that always makes me think of The Iron Queen by Julie Kagawa. If you have read this book, you know what I mean, other way, you have to read it, so you'll can understand why this song is perfect for this book!
It's like this lyric was created specially to "that" part of the book.
And if you want to wath the video, just click "here"

So, this is the part of the lyric for Say Goodnight by The Click Five.

"Baby just say goodnight
I'll be gone tomorrow
Baby just close your eyes
I can't take the sorrow
Baby just walk away
You know i can't stay
There's no easy way to say goodbye
So baby just say goodnight

We're in a spell that never ends
The empty hourglass wore me thin
So let the phone do it's work
Your voice is heaven
But it hurts
Your words are memories
But they burn"
