Book Review: Endlessly by Kiersten White

Endlessly (Paranormalcy #3)
Author: Kiersten White
Summary:
Kiersten White’s New York Times bestselling Paranormalcy trilogy comes to a breathless conclusion with a signature mix of wit, romance, paranormal creatures, and a truly original heroine.
In Endlessly, pink-loving, butt-kicking Evie has way too much on her to-do list. Paranormals are begging her to open a faerie gate so they can leave the human world, something Evie’s not sure she has the power to do. The Dark Queen is torturing humans and must be destroyed.
On top of all that, Evie’s prom is coming up. She’s not sure what to wear, and, oh, yeah, her shape-shifting boyfriend, Lend, has been cursed so that he falls into an enchanted sleep whenever he and Evie are in the same room…and even Evie’s ex-boyfriend, the faerie Reth, can’t reverse the dark magic.
An epic battle is looming, and the choices Evie makes will determine the fate of whole paranormal world—and her own life.

Endlessly is the last book in the Paranormalcy series, one of the first series I read and that I enjoyed madly.
It’s been a long, long time since I read the first two books of this series. Maybe that’s the reason I couldn’t connect with the characters, I don’t know.
I loved Paranormalcy and I liked Supernaturally (I adore the covers). But I expected to “love” Endlessly, sadly, I just liked it.
I think that’s my fault because it takes me too much to say goodbye to my favorite series, and then my taste in books change. My main problem with Endlessly was that I found Evie’s voice too juvenile.
Sometimes I think it was childish and I couldn’t enjoy some parts because of it.

The characters are still great and I love them.  Mostly Reth, who’s my favorite.
The romance was sweet and cute but also a little boring. Or maybe that was because it felt like a love triangle (is not) and I liked better the wrong boy). I really liked Lend in this book but I didn't find him swoon-worthy like in the first one.

But don’t get me wrong, the plot wasn’t boring, it was fast paced and mind-blowing.
Endlessly was a great ending for this series. If I ignore the fact that I got older and stopped loving Evie’s kind of voice, Endlessly was a great final installment for this series.

“We linked hands—my ex-boyfriend, my boyfriend, and my former friend-then-enemy-then friend and I—and walked through a door to see if maybe empty carbs were good for something after all.”

Book Review: Fearscape by Simon Holt

Fearscape (The Devouring #3)
Author: Simon Holt
Pages: 314
My Rating: 4 Stars
Buying links: Amazon/ B&N/ TBD
Summary:
It's been a year since Reggie first discovered the Vours, and the winter solstice is approaching once again. It will be another night of unspeakable horror for those unlucky enough to be taken by the Vours, because this time, she won't be able to stop them. The Vours have imprisoned Reggie in a psychiatric hospital, where she is subjected to a daily routine of unfathomably sadistic experiments. Her life is a living hell, but she won't give up. They attacked her brother. They killed her friend. And Reggie will never stop fighting back.
Fearscape, Book 3 in the Devouring series, ends this chilling trilogy with a thought-provoking and deeply frightening story that will leave you with lasting terror.

For starters since this is ender-series I’ll try to keep this review as spoiler free as possible.
If you aren’t familiar with this series let me tell you this: The Vours are “evil demonic beings that inhabit human bodies on Sorry Night, the darkest hour of the winter solstice.” A person who is possessed by a Vour retains all of the memories but the person is left in a place called a fearscape, which are landscapes crafted from a victim's deepest darkest fears.
In this book Reggie, the main character is imprisioned by the Vours and tortured.
That’s all I can say without giving away too much.
Fearscape is a thrilling conclusion to this series. Simon Holt has created a dark and chilling place where all the nightmares come true.
The characters are strong, determined and valiant. I’m really happy I was finally able to say goodbye and read about Reggie, Aaron and the Vours once again. They’re such great characters and I wish I had more time with them. Yes, even the Vours, they are the best villains I’ve ever met.
I never forgot how much I love the world of The Devouring Trilogy. The world building and plot are unique and disturbing.
The only thing I didn’t like about Fearscape was the romance. In the previous books the romance was almost inexistent and in this one was a little disappointing. Don’t get me wrong, it wasn’t bad; it was just because I liked better the wrong boy...
Anyway, Fearscape was a great conclusion to this amazing series. Simon Holt did an amazing job creating a finale full of suspense and mysteries.

The dark has teeth and it will bite,
It feasts begins on Sorry Night.
When cold and fear are intertwined,
They'll chew up your heart and feed on your mind.
Where have the souls gone? What do they see?
The gateway to Hell's eternity.

Book Review: Evertrue by Brodi Ashton

Evertrue
Series: Everneath #3
Author: Brodi Ashton
Pages: 336
My rating: 4 stars
Order it: Amazon/ B&N/ TBD
Summary:
Now that Nikki has rescued Jack, all she wants is to be with him and graduate high school. But Cole tricked Nikki into feeding off him, and she’s begun the process of turning into an Everliving herself... which means she must feed on a Forfeit soon — or die.
Terrified for her survival, Nikki and Jack begin a desperate attempt to reverse the process using any means possible. Even Cole, who they expected to fight them at every turn, has become an unlikely ally — but how long can it last? Nikki needs to feed on Cole to survive, Cole needs Nikki to gain the throne in the Everneath, Jack needs Nikki because she is everything to him — and together, they must travel back to the Underworld to undo Nikki’s fate and make her mortal once more. But Cole isn’t the only one with plans for Nikki: the Queen has not forgotten Nikki’s treachery, and she wants her destroyed for good. Will Nikki be forced to spend eternity in the Underworld, or does she have what it takes to bring down the Everneath once and for all?
In this stunning conclusion to the Everneath trilogy, Brodi Ashton evokes the resiliency of the human spirit and the indomitable power of true love.

I’m a huge fan of the Everneath series since I read about the first book in the blog Fiktshun.
Back then, I loved the cover, I loved the characters, I love the world-building, and of course, I loved the plot and myth.
Everbound was my most anticipated of last year, and Evertrue was one of my most anticipated of this year.
I wasn’t ready to say goodbye just yet, but I had to do it in order to catch up all the other series I started last year.

However, Evertrue was not what I expected. And I don’t know if that was good or bad. I’m really torn between joy and love.
Evertrue was a very satisfying ending. I’m glad with how the things ended. It was perfectly wrapped and, thanks God, it wasn’t an open ending.
However, even though I liked Evertrue… maybe I loved it. It’s not the kind of love I felt for the other two books.
I feel like the characters I loved before weren’t the same. Jack was not the same. Cole was not the same, and hell! How I missed the band!
I never thought about Nikki as a strong and fierce heroine but I liked her and she never annoyed me. That’s why I was expecting a bigger evolution about her character and that never happened. Nikki was the same Nikki, and like same Nikki I liked her the same way.
Jack (my favorite character of the whole series), didn’t make me swoon like before. I still love him -don’t get me wrong-, but not as much as before.
Cole… *sigh* it felt like Cole was there and at the same time wasn’t.
The other characters were as good as always. I enjoyed reading about them for the last time and I don’t have much to say about them.

The plot was action packed and emotionally draining.
The writing was addictive and fast passed.
Overall, I loved Evertrue. I’ll have a special place in my heart for this series and this ending, even if the ending wasn’t as spectacular as I expected it to be.
I feel like something was missing… maybe the romance? Look! I haven’t talk about the romance because it was almost inexistent. Well, Jack and Nikki's romance was sweet and cute but they almost never had time alone. I missed them.
And I will miss them forever.

Evertrue was a good closure for this series and I’m really happy that the actual ending was unexpected, strong and heartbreaking.

Mini-Review: Sunrise by Mike Mullin

Sunrise
Series: Ahsfall #3
Author: Mike Mullin
Pages: 466
Order it: Amazon/ B&N/ TBD
My rating: 4.5 stars
Summary:
The Yellowstone supervolcano nearly wiped out the human race. Now, almost a year after the eruption, the survivors seem determined to finish the job. Communities wage war on each other, gangs of cannibals roam the countryside, and what little government survived the eruption has collapsed completely. The ham radio has gone silent. Sickness, cold, and starvation are the survivors' constant companions. When it becomes apparent that their home is no longer safe and adults are not facing the stark realities, Alex and Darla must create a community that can survive the ongoing disaster, an almost impossible task requiring even more guts and more smarts than ever — and unthinkable sacrifice. If they fail . . . they, their loved ones, and the few remaining survivors will perish. This epic finale has the heart of Ashfall, the action of Ashen Winter, and a depth all its own, examining questions of responsibility and bravery, civilization and society, illuminated by the story of an unshakable love that transcends a post-apocalyptic world and even life itself.

My thoughts

It’s always hard to say goodbye to your favorite series. That’s why it took me so long to read Sunrise.
I had the chance to read the eARC, but I didn’t... because I didn’t want to say goodbye yet.
But I finally forced myself to do it, and I’m happy I did because it was better than I expected.
Sunrise was the perfect ending for this series. It was hopeful and the development of the plot was just as great as I expected.
Alex and Darla are still one of my favorite couples, they’re friends, they’re partners, and they love each other in a very mature way.
I don’t really love the secondary characters. I only cared about Alex and Darla, the world-building and the writing. Anyway, each character was different and well created.
Mike Mullin created a perfect world after the events of Ashfall.

It was a strong conclusion, a satisfying ending. After all the brutally there’s always the glimmer of hope about a long term future.
I also loved how realistic the book was about the feelings. The main characters were too young when it all started, we come to see how the tragedy affect them, how sad is to be a pillar, to try to survive every day and not just to be a teenager.
Darla is one of the strongest girls I ever read. Sometimes I feel like she was the strongest character in the series. She was a truly heroine.

This was a hard read. And these series are an action packed ride. Cruel, brutal and realistic.
Sunrise is the perfect ending. Great plot, great characters, a fast passed read. Mike Mullin created an emotional roller-coaster. A perfectly written story and one of the best post-apocalyptical books of these days.

Book Review: Into the Still Blue by Veronica Rossi

Into the Still Blue
Series: Under the Never Sky #3
Pages: 392
Order: Amazon/ B&N/ TBD
My rating: 5 stars
Summary:
Aria and Perry are determined to find this last safe haven from the Aether storms before Sable and Hess do--and they are just as determined to stay together.
Within the confines of a cave they're using as a makeshift refuge, they struggle to reconcile their people, Dwellers and Outsiders, who are united only in their hatred of their desperate situation. Out of options, Perry and Aria assemble an unlikely team for an impossible rescue mission. Cinder isn't just the key to unlocking the Still Blue and their only hope for survival--he's also their friend. And in a dying world, the bonds between people are what matter most.
In this final book in her earth-shattering Under the Never Sky trilogy, Veronica Rossi raises the stakes to their absolute limit and brings her epic love story to an unforgettable close.

https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/14288998-into-the-still-blue

First off:
I want to thank Ari @ Reading after midnight for bringing me back to this series.
And thanks to Jen @ YA Romantics, because I won this book in her blog.

To be completely honest I wasn't the hugest fan of Under the Never Sky, but after reading Ari’s reviews of the sequels I got the urge to read Through the Ever Night… and I loved it, I adored it to pieces. It made me want to read the last book as soon as possible.

Now that I read Into the Still Blue I just can say that this is one of my favorite series of all the time. These characters are the best I read in a long time.
They’re well created, they’re unique, they’re mature and they’re strong and loyal.
I am deeply and completely in love with the world of Under the Never Sky.
Into the Still Blue was the perfect ending. It was all that I expected and much more. I admit that the last chapters felt a little rushed for me, but except that, everything else was wonderful!

“You have to talk to me. We have to tell each other the little things, the bad things. Maybe they’ll hurt for a while, but at least they won’t become big things. If we don’t, we’re just going to keep hurting each other. And I don’t want to do that anymore”

Now, that’s a true relationship. Aria and Perry have ups and downs, but they always figure out a way to stay together and make the romance realistic and strong.
And what I love even more is that there isn’t a love triangle. Couples like the ones in this book are what the YA-dystopian books need.

And what can I say about the friendship? The family?
Aria, Perry and Roar are the best team I ever met. Their friendship is so beautiful, so complete.
And the Tides are like the biggest and more wonderful family ever!

Okay, I won’t say anymore, because everything I could say is the same. I loved this book. I adored it. I enjoyed it.
It made me laugh and cry. It made me feel how amazing is to be a reader.

Mini-review: Champion by Marie Lu

Champion (Legend #3)
Author: Marie Lu
Pages: 369
My rating: 6 stars/ special rating
Buy it: Amazon/ B&N/ TBD
Summary:
He is a Legend.
She is a Prodigy.
Who will be Champion?
June and Day have sacrificed so much for the people of the Republic—and each other—and now their country is on the brink of a new existence. This new strain of plague is deadlier than ever, and June is the only one who knows the key to her country’s defense. https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/14290364-champion

One of my favorite reviewers (Ari @ Reading After Midnight) said about this book:

“Perfect books are just perfect”

And I couldn’t agree more.
This ending was perfect. These books were perfect.
After reading Champion, the Legend Trilogy became my favorite dystopia. I feel like these books have their own heart.
I don’t even know what to say. I can’t find the words to tell you how good Champion was.
Lately I’ve been reading a bunch of disappointing endings, and I was utterly scared that Champion was one of those… but it wasn’t.
I had to “schedule” this book to read it. Because I was able to feel the heartbreak even when I read the synopsis. I was scared, I was terrified, and I didn’t want to say goodbye.
That was the worst part: I didn’t want to say goodbye. It took me three days to read this book; it was because I savored every line, every single word. I forced myself to read slowly, to stop.

If there’s one thing I have to highlight about Champion is that it was unexpected. I was totally wrong about everything. It surprised me and it makes me so sad and so happy.
This book created balance. This book was full of hope. This book made me see things I didn’t see before.
Champion broke and heart, Champion made me cry and smile at the same time.

Champion by Marie Lu is the best ending I’ve ever read. Simply like that!

Book Review: Rapture by Lauren Kate

Rapture (Fallen #4)
Author: Lauren Kate
Pages: 448
Buying links: Amazon/ B&N/ TBD
My Rating: 4 Stars
Synopsis:
The sky is dark with wings....
Like sand through an hourglass, time is running out for Luce and Daniel. To stop Lucifer from erasing the past, they must find the place where the angels fell to earth.
Dark forces are after them, and Daniel doesn’t know if he can do this — live only to lose Luce again and again. Yet together they face an epic battle that will end with lifeless bodies...and angel dust. Great sacrifices are made. Hearts are destroyed.
And suddenly Luce knows what must happen. For she was meant to be with someone other than Daniel. The curse they’ve borne has always and only been about her — and the love she cast aside. The choice she makes now is the only one that truly matters.
In the fight for Luce, who will win?
Rapture is the astonishing conclusion to the Fallen series. Heaven can’t wait any longer.

https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/12681104-rapture

I have a signed copy of Rapture since… like 2 years ago, but I wasn’t able read it because, first: I didn’t want to say goodbye to this characters. Second: because I absolutely love the cover and I was worried I could ruin it while reading (and yes, I know that this is a stupid reason).
Anyway, thanks to Fiktshun, I joined once again to the challenge Don’t let it end, and I forced myself to read this book. And I did.
And I’m so happy, because after all those crappy ending, I finally managed to read an ending that wasn’t mind-blowing, but wasn’t disappointing, either.

The first half of this book was slow paced; I had a hard time reading page after page of Luce’s thoughts.
Also, there were some things that were too convenient. For example, Luce has been a silly and passive girl in the previous books, I know she was meant to grow up, but in Rapture it was ridiculous, it was like Luce suddenly became a genius and she was the only one figuring out everything. It was a little hard to believe.
The second half of the book was much better. When I get used to the new-smart Luce, I started enjoying more the story. Lauren Kate’s descriptions were beautiful and the plot became more exciting.
I loved that finally all the questions were answered, the nature of the curse was revealed, and though, I already expected something it never stopped to amaze me some of the discoveries and twist and turns the story took.

Oh, and the ending…
The ending was beautiful!! The Fallen Series are my 4 stars series. I’ve given 4 stars to all the books, but this ending is worth 5 stars (if I just could forget what I didn’t like).
So, I never ever thought I would cry… but I did. I absolutely loved the way Luce’s and Daniel’s story ended. It made realize there’s nothing wrong with happy endings.

And since I said that Finale had the worst epilogue in the world. Rapture has the BEST epilogue ever.
Rapture was more than what I expected. It was amazing and the perfect final for the series.

On a very personal note:
This book was hard for me because I’m a Christian, I’m catholic, I believe in real angels, and reading about angels and God like they’re fiction, somehow made me feel uncomfortable.
I think this will be the last book about angels that I read (except for those from Susan Ee which are too mind-blowing to miss).
Don’t get me wrong, I’m open minded, and I never mix my feelings between fantasy and faith. But somehow Rapture made me think about it. I cannot tell you exactly what happened because that’s a huge spoiler, but the thing is… I didn’t like “that” thing, and I don’t want to feel like I’m betraying my belief (which I don’t but the conscience is a bitch).
Like I say, this is a very personal note. It doesn’t have anything to do with the book except for the realization that I rather not to read angel books again.

Book Review: Finale by Becca Fitzpatrick

Finale (Hush Hush #4)
Author: Becca Fitzpatrick
Pages:
Buying links: Amazon/ B&N/ TBD
My rating: 3 stars
Synopsis:
Will love conquer all?
Nora and Patch thought their troubles were behind them. Hank is gone and they should be able to put his ugly vendetta to rest. But in Hank's absence, Nora has become the unwitting head of the Nephilim and must finish what Hank began. Which ultimately means destroying the fallen angels - destroying Patch. Nora will never let that happen, so she and Patch make a plan: lead everyone to believe they have broken up, and work the system from the inside. Nora will convince the Nephilim that they are making a mistake in fighting the fallen angels, and Patch will find out everything he can from the opposing side. They will end this war before it can even begin.  But the best-laid plans often go awry. Nora is put through the paces in her new role and finds herself drawn to an addictive power she never anticipated. As the battle lines are drawn, Nora and Patch must confront the differences that have always been between them and either choose to ignore them or let them destroy the love they have always fought for.

https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/12751687-finale

I’m really sad I landed once again in another disappointing ending.
But don’t get me wrong, I didn’t hate Finale, I didn’t love it either. I keep telling myself that maybe my taste in books changed too much since I started the series, and now I don’t like the same things.
It’s just that… well, I finally see Nora as the annoying character my friends kept telling me about since they started the series, I didn’t see it before, but in Finale it was so obvious. Nora lied, Nora had secrets, Nora did the wrong the most stupid things in the world and nothing really bad happened to her. Even Patch seemed blinded and like a puppy with her.
And talking about Patch… I loved him in the previous books, he was sexy, swoon-worthy, strong and smart, a badass, but in Finale Patch was like a lion turned into a cat. Too soft, too… sweet.
I am really, really sad it turned like that. I still think my favorite characters are Vee and Scott, but Becca Fitzpatrick ruined them in the end as well. It makes me want to cry and scream at the same time.

Anyway, aside from the annoying characters and the weak relationship among them, I enjoyed the story line and how the plot developed. There were unexpected twist and turns that I appreciated.
The writing was as addictive as in the other books, fast passed, and the descriptions were really good.
The things ended in an easy way, but it was good.
However, I think the ending was a little rushed and I felt like something was missing there, add to that the cheesiest scene in the world where “they” even forget they were in the middle of a lot of people dead.
This leads me to the worst Epilogue in the world.

Once again, I’m so, SO disappointed. But like I said, I also liked it. I think this is some case of love/hate relationship. It wasn’t as amazing as I hoped but I think some people will be happy with the way the story of Nora and Patch ended.
I, personally didn’t feel a thing. No happy tears, no sad tears, nothing.

2014 Don't Let It End Reading Challenge

This year for the second time I'm joining the fabulous challenge "Don’t it end", hosted by Rachel @ Fiktshun.
This was my most successful challenge last year. I managed to read about 10 final books, even those I didn’t want to say goodbye to.

I still have some books that I didn’t read and I hope I can do it this year. Even though I put them on my reading pile I couldn’t read Finale, Everlasting and Rapture…

The rules
Read the FINAL book only in a series that you’ve been putting off, or dread reading.
Write a review or post your thoughts about the book.
Between February 14th and July 14th stop back and leave a link to your posts.

There will be giveaways, too!

This time I’m challenging me to read at least 10 ending series books. But for today those are the books I can remember…

Finale (Hush Hush #4) by Becca Fitzpatrick
Everlasting (The Immortals #6) by Alyson Noel
Rapture (Fallen #4) by Lauren Kate
The savage grace (The dark divine #3) by Bree Despain
Into the still blue (Under the never sky #3) by Veronica Rossi (I already have an eARC of this one, but I can’t make myself read it!)
Champion (Legend #3) by Marie Lu
UnSouled by Neal Shusterman

Also, this year my favorite series comes to an end.
I’m not sure if I’ll be able to read them, because I don’t wanted them to end, but the story ends here for…

Shatter me by Tahereh Mafi
Blood of Eden by Julie Kagawa
Mara Dyer by Michelle Hodkins
The mortal instruments by Cassandra Clare.
Everneath by Brodi Ashton.

Immortal hearts (Vampire Kisses #9) by Ellen Schreiber

Immortal hearts
Vampire kisses #9
Author: Ellen Schreiber
Pages: 260
Goodreads AVG Rating: 2.44
Summary:
Athena "Stormy" Sterling is coming to Dullsville, and Raven is both excited and panicked in anticipation of Alexander's little sister's visit. Alexander tells Raven that she and his sister have a lot in common, but can the mini-Raven be everything she hopes for? Alexander calls her Stormy for a reason.
Stormy's visit stirs up the perfect immortal whirlwind. Raven is forced to take a good look at what it would really mean to be a vampire in the Sterling family, aside from some of the things she already loves, like shunning the sun and sleeping in a coffin with Alexander. When Raven compares her life with Stormy's, she can see that it's not all starry skies and black roses. But Raven knows she's always wanted to be a vampire.
Alexander is as romantic and dreamy as ever, and though he keeps showing Raven how much he loves her, will she ultimately be able to convince him that it's the right thing to turn her?
This final chapter of Vampire Kisses' nocturnal romance will keep all mortal and immortal hearts racing

Based on my nostagic feelings!
Real rating: 3 stars.

Oh man! I just realized how hard is to grow up and see your favorite characters be the same teen-immature-silly persons. Ok, not that I stopped loving YA, but while reading the last book in the Vampire Kisses series I just had a new “view” to Raven and her gang.
Vampire Kisses was the first book about vampire that I read, I loved Raven and Alexander, I loved Trevor and I hated Becky, I was happy to read all 5 books (back then) one after the others. Then I waited and waited for the next ones. But today, after I finished reading Immortal hearts, the 9th book, I felt something I didn’t expected, after about 200 books read since I’m a reader, I feel bored! I even skipped some lines, I was reading without putting much attention.

I’m not going to say that I didn’t enjoy some parts and felt a little nostalgic, because I did, of course!
I was dying to know if Alexander will finally turn Raven into a vampire, I wanted to know what’s going to happen with the infamous Stormy Sterling. And sadly (at least about the Stormy part) I was disappointed.
The characters are 17 years old like almost every YA character I’ve read about, but they were so-not-real. Raven is childish and selfish, her descriptions are cheesy and… well, not awesomely describing!
Alexander’s still “dreamy” and maybe that’s the reason why I enjoyed this last book. He’s a little more mature, confident, and… hot.
Luna and Jagger… what a shame of villains! Booo!
Stormy? Well, silly girl, so manageable.
Becky and Matt was a really cute couple, but in Becky’s case I still don’t buy her relationship with Raven, even for best friend I didn’t find they had a good... chemistry?
Trevor? Oh, yes! Trevor’s why I loved Vampire Kisses. Still I can’t understand what Raven thinks of him. She’s attracted to him, she accepted the attraction in “that” moment and yet she keeps talking about him like his enemy.

And then... the romance.
Raven loves Alexander, Alexander loves Raven. That’s a cute couple. BUT the descriptions kill all the magic. Except the typical “Alexander kissed me deeply” there wasn’t any real emotion shared through Raven’s words. It was like they love each other, they kiss, and she feels weak of her knees, blah, blah, blah…
Sadly I doubt I will read another Ellen Schreiber book someday. The writing isn’t something I love now, now that I have read really good books.

But after all, after the moment where I realized how much I didn't like the writing, I have to say that I enjoyed this book. Maybe it was the nostalgic part. Maybe it’s because I won’t know about the people in Dullsvile anymore. Maybe because it’s the end of another cycle in my life.
Vampire Kissed will have always a good spot in my heart. Because this series made me love vampires and turned me into a better reader.

Gracias!

Book review: With all my soul by Rachel Vincent

With all my soul
Series: Soul Screamers #7
Author: Rachel Vincent
Pages: 377
Goodreads AVG Rating: 4.40
Summary:
What does it mean when your school is voted the most dangerous in America? It's time to kick some hellion butt...
After not really surviving her junior year (does "undead" count as survival?), Kaylee Cavanaugh has vowed to take back her school from the hellions causing all the trouble. She's going to find a way to turn the incarnations of Avarice, Envy and Vanity against one another in order to protect her friends and finish this war, once and forever.
But then she meets Wrath and understands that she's closer to the edge than she's ever been. And when one more person close to her is taken, Kaylee realizes she can't save everyone she loves without risking everything she has....

With all my soul is the last book in the Soul Screamers series, and personally, my favorite of all seven books.
I don’t think I am able to write a great review or something like that. Ending series is always hard, especially with those long series with more than five books, but even harder when that series is one you really loved since the beginning.

Personally I think that WITH ALL MY SOUL is the best book in the series. For starters I thought that Before I die will be always my favorite, even when I started reading the last installment, I don’t know what I was thinking, but I was sure this book will be amazing, but not that amazing. As always I was wrong when it’s about Rachel Vincent. The last half of WITH ALL MY SOUL was pure adrenaline and torture. The plot was so very well created that that unexpected turn put me on the edge of my seat, on the border of my tears.

This book was about true friendship, love and sacrifice. This shows us that even though Kaylee was the main character, the others in the gang were as important as she was. Everyone of them did an amazing last play. We laugh with them, we love with them and we cry with them.
But just like the author wrote in her note, this book was for Kaylee. I never forgot that she is one of the best and strongest heroines I ever met. WITH ALL MY SOUL was the last prove to Kaylee, to save her friends, to find the peace she deserves. And Kaylee did better than that, she was selfless and passionate, strong and lovely, fierce and brave. Her loyalty for the people she loves made her unforgettable and despite everything that happened, Kaylee shows us the strength of love.

The new character added to the book was really welcomed, necessary to finally ends this cycle and as well created as the others (I couldn’t help but picturing him as a shinigami!). It seemed impossible that one can love a character added until the end, but this one was the clave to develop the ending we were pining for.
And talking about characters, once again I have to say that I LOVED with all my soul Kaylee’s gang. Each one of them: Uncle Brendon, Aiden, Harmony, Em, Sophie (yes! Sophie!), Luca, Nash, Tod, but specially Sabine. Even I found this weird, because I didn’t like Sabine the first time she was presented. But Sabine, just like Kaylee is different, and hardly to forget.

And finally, the ending.
WITH ALL MY SOUL has the best ending ever, seriously, it worth the waiting, it worth reading the other six books and novellas, it worth your time and all your tears.
The last four chapters were pure heartbreak, an emotionally draining rollercoaster. I couldn’t stop crying even when my head was about to explode in pain.
It was as unexpected as everything else. It was fitting, and needed, and magnificently thoughtful.
The last chapter was the best “epilogue” we could have wait for.
Sure thing you will cry, and then laugh and then cry again. This is going to be a madness of perfection.
WITH ALL MY SOUL is the ending every reader deserves.
