(Button from Blood read road Cover)

Hello everyone!
Welcome to The Reader Lines and this segment I call Face to Face. Today's topic is Julie Kawaga's first book from the series.
As you might know The Immortal Rules is the first book from the Blood of Coven series, while The Iron King is the first book from the Iron Fey series.
Go for it.

The Summaries.

"In a future world, vampires reign. Humans are blood cattle. And one girl will search for the key to save humanity."Allison Sekemoto survives in the Fringe, the outermost circle of a vampire city. By day, she and her crew scavenge for food. By night, any one of them could be eaten.
Some days, all that drives Allie is her hatred of "them." The vampires who keep humans as blood cattle. Until the night Allie herself is attacked--and given the ultimate choice. Die...or become one of the monsters.

Meghan Chase has a secret destiny; one she could never have imagined.
Something has always felt slightly off in Meghan's life, ever since her father disappeared before her eyes when she was six. She has never quite fit in at school or at home.
When a dark stranger begins watching her from afar, and her prankster best friend becomes strangely protective of her, Meghan senses that everything she's known is about to change.

My POV.

For Book 1.
I was so lucky to have an ARC for this book that I was jumping form happiness. I couldn't believe I will be one of the first people to read Julie's new book. But that was because I loved the Iron Fey and I love vampires.
So, when I started The Immortal Rules I was thrilled of how amazing this book was. I loved Alli, and I loved Zeke, in fact, he is the first "good boy" I really LOVED with all my heart. This book was sad and powerful at the same time. The best beginning I could ask for.

For Book 2.
It was a long time since since a good friend of mine gave a copy of the Iron King, but for some reason I didn't want to read it. Maybe because I was stuck with vampires and werewolves of just because it was about faeires, and I didn't want to read about them.
But when my friends started to talk about The Iron Queen and how sad they were, I knew it was the time. I think I said "Stupid me" when I realized it was such a great book. A total blown away, I couldn't belive books of faeries were so awesome!

Reviewers' POV

For Book 1: This was taken from Bloody Bookaholic (See review HERE)
How can I possibly describe how hugely talented Julie Kagawa is? She managed to take something old, and mold it into something completely unique and completely her own. This book resembles nothing you have read before, and nothing you will ever read in the future. The mix of characters, vampires, emotion, survival, blood, necessity, desire... It's just wonderful guys, so freaking wonderful. Julie Kagawa has done it all over again.

For Book 2: This was taken from The Book Faery (See review HERE)
The way that the author weaved in the technology driven world we live in and how it is affecting the faery realm was very clever and also makes you think of the parallel it plays with our very own world. The premise and storyline are pitch perfect and The Iron King is a fantastic start to a wonderful new series.
The Rating.

Not just what I think, but what other people thinks as well.

Face to Face: Kiss Crush Collide VS True Vision

FTF is a blog segment where I post about two books with a similar topic.
If you want to join or just know a little more about it, go my Introduccion Post.

Hallo reader!
It's been a while since I posted my last Face to Face and I decided I had to do a little change.
Yeah, just a little.
But today's FTF is between this two books with a very similar cover:

Let's start!
Summaries.

Book 1: Kiss
What Leah did—only she really shouldn’t have—one hot night at a country club party.
Crush
What Leah has—only she really shouldn’t have—on the guy with the green eyes, the guy who is not her perfect boyfriend, the guy who does not fit in her picture-perfect life, the guy her sisters will only mock and her mother will never approve of. Not in a million years.
Collide
What happens when everything you always thought you wanted—having cool friends, being class valedictorian and homecoming queen—runs smack into everything it turns out you really do want.
Kiss. Crush. Collide.
For Leah and Porter, summer is only the beginning.

Book 2: Newspaper reporter Charlie Trudeau is living an ordinary life, until witnessing a fatal hit-and-run accident gives her an intense psychic power she has no clue how to handle—and brings a Chicago police detective to her doorstep...
Noah Lassiter wants nothing more than to find the driver who killed his good friend. But his only lead is the beautiful Charlie Trudeau, who gets prickly when he starts nosing around town. Charlie’s clearly hiding something, but Noah needs her help unraveling the mystery of his friend’s death—even if the electricity between them complicates things.
But the more Noah and Charlie uncover, the more they realize they’re looking for a desperate killer—and the more danger they’re in. And if Charlie can’t gain control over her psychic powers, they may not survive long enough to explore the full sizzling potential of their desire…

MY POV
Book 1:
I read this book some time ago, because I just loved the cover since the first time I saw it, and well, I added it to my Contemporary reading challenge.
I was loving contemporary till I read this one... It disappointed me!
I got bored and frustrated and sad... and I really wanted to like it, but I just couldn't. I mean, this book is not terrible, it has some good parts, but I think it's not for me.
My rating: 3 Stars.
Goodreads Rating: 3.06

Book 2:
I didn't know about this book till I see the comparisons with the cover and I thought: Oh great! another one! But I started to read reviews and I just realized that this book looks so good! I can't be really clear about it, coz I haven't read it, but it promises a little more than Kiss Crush Collide.
My rating: 4 Stars.
Goodreads Rating: 3.76

REVIEWERS POVs
Book 1: This was taken from G. Knightley (See review here)
"The way this book was written is more realistically from the vantage point of someone who is falling in love than many others I have read in a long time"

"In my opinion this book shouldn't be dismissed, as it's actually a refreshing take on the confusing, awful and wonderful craziness that falling in love brings"

"True Vision is non-stop action from beginning to end"

"Personally, I think what drew me in the most were the two main characters, Charlie and Noah. Lamb created two very likable protagonists. I was immediately invested in their journey. I also liked her writing style. She has a snappy voice and perfect pacing. The mystery unfolded slowly, the romance was believable, and the premise was interesting. The story was packed with intrigue, family secrets, romance, and a solid mystery that kept me turning the pages"

THE WINNER

Not just what I think, but what other people think as well.
My rating wasn't based on my own thought coz I haven't read True Vision. So, it was based on all the reviews I read.
Book 1:
My rating: 3
Goodreads rating: 3.06
Reviewer: 5
 = 11.06

Book 2:
My rating: 4
Goodreads rating: 3.76
Reviewer: 5
= 12.76

Soooo... the winner is....

TRUE VISION!!!!

Now run, and buy it!

Face to face (3)

Face to face is a weekly competition between two books with similar topics.

This time the common denominator is "THE HEART"

VS

Very similar, don't you think?
I'm going to call them Book 1: The Dark & Hollow Places. Book 2: Forbidden.

So, lets start with the comparation!

Book 1: Summary:
There are many things that Annah would like to forget: the look on her sister's face before Annah left her behind in the Forest of Hands and Teeth, her first glimpse of the Horde as they swarmed the Dark City, the sear of the barbed wire that would scar her for life. But most of all, Annah would like to forget the morning Elias left her for the Recruiters.
Annah's world stopped that day, and she's been waiting for Elias to come home ever since. Somehow, without him, her life doesn't feel much different than the dead that roam the wasted city around her. Until she meets Catcher, and everything feels alive again.
But Catcher has his own secrets. Dark, terrifying truths that link him to a past Annah has longed to forget, and to a future too deadly to consider. And now it's up to Annah: can she continue to live in a world covered in the blood of the living? Or is death the only escape from the Return's destruction?

Book 2: Summary:
She is pretty and talented - sweet sixteen and never been kissed. He is seventeen; gorgeous and on the brink of a bright future. And now they have fallen in love. But... they are brother and sister.
Seventeen-year-old Lochan and sixteen-year-old Maya have always felt more like friends than siblings. Together they have stepped in for their alcoholic, wayward mother to take care of their three younger siblings. As defacto parents to the little ones, Lochan and Maya have had to grow up fast. And the stress of their lives—and the way they understand each other so completely—has also also brought them closer than two siblings would ordinarily be. So close, in fact, that they have fallen in love. Their clandestine romance quickly blooms into deep, desperate love. They know their relationship is wrong and cannot possibly continue. And yet, they cannot stop what feels so incredibly right. As the novel careens toward an explosive and shocking finale, only one thing is certain: a love this devastating has no happy ending

My thoughts.
Book 1: This book has an AVG rating on Goodreads of 4.12 stars. I haven't read it yet, but I did read the book 1 of the series and I loved it, so, I really understand why this book is so loved. The writing of the author is pretty cool. I loved her worls in The forest of hands and teeth. And I'm sure the next books became better and more wonderful.
Book 2: This book has an AVG rating of 4.10. I did read this one some months ago. And I have nothing to say except that I loved it in some insame way. I loved the descriptions of the author and the ending was so... OMG! I'll kill this writer!

I think I can't be fair if I had read just one, that's why I have been stalking some blogs and reviews to know which one is more loved. And I found out my answer...
This week the book winner of this Face to Face is...........

 Lets, start with this.
Both of this books have very very bad comments. But I found in some places, some good reviews, So this time I want to know which is better.

Book 1. I love the cover! It's really beautiful and makes me want to read this book. Just one look, and this could be I book I could buy. The summary sounds interesting, too. And the AVG rating on Goodreads is 3.73 stars.

Book 2. I don't like the cover, not a bit. But I love the summary and I really want to read this book just to discover the sectret. The AVG rating for this book is 3.67, even less.

This time is really difficul to pick one winner, but I have read a lot of reviews and I have to say, one of this book diserves a chance. The winner of this Face to Face is....

Dirty little secrets!

Face to face (1)

Face to face is a weekly competition between two books with similar topics.

This week the competition is between two books with the word "Probability" on the title.

VS

The Statistical Probability of love at first side. (Book 1)
Summary from Goodreads.
Who would have guessed that four minutes could change everything? Today should be one of the worst days of seventeen-year-old Hadley Sullivan's life. She's stuck at JFK, late to her father's second wedding, which is taking place in London and involves a soon to be step-mother that Hadley's never even met. Then she meets the perfect boy in the airport's cramped waiting area. His name is Oliver, he's British, and he's in seat 18C. Hadley's in 18A.
Twists of fate and quirks of timing play out in this thoughtful novel about family connections, second chances and first loves. Set over a 24-hour-period, Hadley and Oliver's story will make you believe that true love finds you when you're least expecting it.
The Probability of miracles. (Book 2)
Summary from Goodreads.
Dry, sarcastic, sixteen-year-old Cam Cooper has spent the last seven years in and out hospitals. The last thing she wants to do in the short life she has left is move 1,500 miles away to Promise, Maine - a place known for the miraculous events that occur there. But it's undeniable that strange things happen in Promise: everlasting sunsets; purple dandelions; flamingoes in the frigid Atlantic; an elusive boy named Asher; and finally, a mysterious envelope containing a list of things for Cam to do before she dies. As Cam checks each item off the list, she finally learns to believe - in love, in herself, and even in miracles.

Book 1: I love the summary sounds like a love story I want to know. The cover is pretty, I really love the shadows between the couple. I've heard a lot of good critics about this book. And the AVG rating of this book is 4.03 stars.
Book 2: The summary is the kind of "summary" I love to read. The cover is beautiful, I just don't like the color. I've heard good things about this, too. And the AVG Rating is 4.14 star.

So, this time (according to me) the winner of this Face to face is....

The Probability of Miracles.

It's not just the difference in the AVG Rating. I loved the fantasy topic  in the summary. Purple dandelions? Yes, that's for me.
