Payton Archer is
looking for what Claire has with Jessie, but she has given up on finding
it...at least until she leaves for college in the Fall because she is
certain that is where she will find the perfect guy to fit into her
perfect world. She plans on Summer being nothing but three uneventful
months of fun, but it turns out to be anything but ordinary when Payton
is introduced to Nick Hawke, one of Jessie’s old Collinsville friends.
She is shocked by her immediate and intense attraction for “Hawke”
because nothing about him is what Payton is looking for. Sure, he’s hot
and sexy but he comes from Collinsville and that is definitely not on
her list of prerequisites. Everything about him makes Payton’s heart
speed because he is exciting and dangerous, but his fast car and the
dangerous chances he takes aren't what scares Payton the most...it’s the
way Nick Hawke makes her feel every time he looks at her. Can Payton
find that moment of total fearlessness and make the decision to leave
the safe, shallow end of love to risk going under completely?
My POV.
Oh man, oh man, oh man! Someone might hit me when I say I don't want to read contemporary. But I mean, if all contemporary books were like this, this would be my favorite genre.
After I finished Going Under I was thrilled of the way that book made me feel. And now, after I finished Shallow, I am even more thrilled!
I loved Payton!!! though I have to say that the first time I read her name I thought she was a boy... duuuh! so, when I know she was this kind of happy and funny girl, I was the happier reader alive.
But, back to Shallow, I was drolling from the first chapter reading more about Jessie and Clare with Payton, till the moment she met Nick... can I say that I wanted to jump in front of him?
Well, the point is. Since that magic and awesome moment I started to get excited about the way their relationship will really start. I knew Payton, and so, I also knew it will be difficult for her. After all, Nick wasn't as rich as her. In fact, that was what I loved the most about this book.
It's been a while since I don't read a book where the main characters are divided for class and society stuff. It makes it better and more real to my eyes.
I was all happy and scared and in love with every part of the story.
I loved the characters, the dialogues, the story-line. I loved Dallas, and reading about my dear Jessia once again.
I think these guys are more mature. And yeah, you know that feeling of falling in love for the first time? Then, you'll feel it again while reading this story.
I love the romantic scenes, it wasn't something too sweet, it was hot and swoon worthy.
I totally recommend this book if you want to read something that makes you feel like a teenager, that makes you feel those butterflies in your stomach.
Ms. Cates has made a very awesome job by writing this book form Payton POV, and introducing us to Nick's full adrenaline world.
Bad and sexy boys, a smart and funny girl, awesome romance scenes. What else you can ask for? This book is something all of you have to read.
Oh... but if you wonder why this is 4 stars and not 5, that's because I'm insane and I thought the fisical relation started too fast, though that's not really bad.
About the Author.
I am a wife, mother
of two daughters and a labor and delivery nurse. I have recently added
Paranormal Romance Writer to my list of things to keep be busy, but I am
ecstatic to release my debut novel, Blood of Anteros, the first book inThe
Vampire Agápe Series.
Like others that
enjoy a great story of paranormal romance, I am easily bored by the tale of an
obtainable, ordinary romance and was inspired to create The Vampire Agápe
Series. When I am not tied up with my family or delivering babies, I am working
feverishly on the second book in The
Vampire Agápe Series.
