Some Books Ago: The Star by Javi Araguz & Isabel Hierro

Some Books Ago is a shout out to all those books published some years ago. I don't want you to forget them!

I’m cheating a little here, because this book is not available in English. There was a campaign some years ago to publish it in the US, but never heard about it anymore, so I guess no such luck.
Guys! This book broke my heart into tiny little pieces. I loved it so much. I stole my heart. It’s (and I’m not kidding, except for One Hundred Years of Solitude) the BEST book in Spanish I’ve ever read.
What breaks my heart even more is that I don’t have a copy!! I read it because I borrowed it from one of my teachers. I never saw her anymore after that year, so, I couldn’t ask her to buy a copy for me. And when I look online for this book I only find used editions for around $50. Gosh, I wish I had that money.
Anyway, La Estrella, The Star, is a breathtakingly beautiful book and I wish there’s still time to translate it into all possible languages.

La Estrella was published on June 16th 2011 by Viceversa

Summary:

Centuries ago a catastrophe turned Linde into a hostile place. Since then, the survivors have learned to live in isolation within the boundaries of the Safe Limits.
But the planet is constantly subjected to a change in shape and people are lost, never to return.

  1. WOAH. I'd not heard of this book before, but goodness, it sounds awesome! And a nice cover too! I wish it were published in English... but I'm bilingual (mostly) so I'd be fine reading the Spanish edition. I'll have to check it out. :D

    Great post, Lis!
