Some Books Ago: Vessel by Sarah Beth Durst

Every Tuesday I post about the new books I discover. So, I wanted to give a shout out to all those books published some years ago, I don't want to you to forget them!

Hello there! I hope you're having a great week! I feel like it's been months since I wrote something cause I've been sick, and except for a few scheduled post and some comments, I haven't been doing anything. And the worst is that I haven't read anything either (The Winner's Kiss!!)...
Anyway, today I want to talk about Vessel. I don't even remember when I added this book to my to-read list, but I always loved the cover and the synopsis. Have you read it? If not, maybe it's time you give it a chance!

Check it out!

It was published on September 11th 2012 by Margaret K. McElderry

Summary:

Liyana has trained her entire life to be the vessel of a goddess. She will dance and summon her tribe's deity, who will inhabit Liyana's body and use magic to bring rain to the desert. But when the dance ends, Liyana is still there. Her tribe is furious — and sure that it is Liyana's fault. Abandoned by her tribe, Liyana expects to die in the desert. Until a boy walks out of the dust in search of her.

Korbyn is a god inside his vessel, and a trickster god at that. He tells Liyana that five other gods are missing, and they set off across the desert in search of the other vessels. The desert tribes cannot survive without the magic of their gods. But the journey is dangerous, even with a god’s help. And not everyone is willing to believe the trickster god’s tale.

The closer she grows to Korbyn, the less Liyana wants to disappear to make way for her goddess. But she has no choice — she must die for her tribe to live. Unless a trickster god can help her to trick fate — or a human girl can muster some magic of her own.

  1. I read this book a few years after it was published (I won a signed hardcover from the author around the time of publication, and I felt bad for never having read the book, even though when I did finally read it was years later). I LOVED IT SO MUCH! One of my favorite desert fantasy novel. =)
