My thoughts
Gone is the last book of the Dream Catcher trilogy, I was really afraid of reading this book because I loved Wake and Fade, (and the novella), and I didn't want to end this series when all I read about it, was bad reviews.
Gone, help us to join all those pieces that were in the air with the previous books and thus ending the story of Janie and her future as a dream catcher. Janie discovers "someone", so the story focuses on research about that someone and find out why her mother abandoned her.
The characters remain the same, there are just a few new characters and I didn't came to know them well. As for the protagonists, Janie and Cabel didn't surprise a lot, but I liked Janie better.
Janie is the complete badass in this part of history, we can see the way she explores her feelings and fears to try to shut out the world because she knows the consequences of continuing to use her gift as dream catcher- anyone would feel like her, knowing these terrible things that could happen and are already happening- and among all the mess of feelings she has to start to attach each piece of the puzzle about the past of her father
Moreover, Cabel don't take much prominence in this story, all the times he appears in with those strange and powerful dreams we can realize that he's scared, and that he is not the tough guy of the previous books, but we can see, too, his real weakness and his big love for Janie.
In this book we meet new characters, like Henry, but does not add much because of his condition, Janie's mother also has a greater role compared to the previous books though while being drunk doesn't add much to the plot.
I would be exaggerating if I say that this book is a masterpiece. But this series is fast and you can finish each book after another... okay, I might have took a while to read Gone, but it was just because I was scared.
The plot is so good, that you'll be caught in those dreams like you're dreaming as well.
If you expected to find a lot of accion in Gone, maybe you'll be a little dissapointed- that was my only problem, Fade has more action! and was my favorite.
The writing style was clean and fast, like always, but this time, I would love if it was in 1st person. Because it was an ending and it was the most emosional of the series. I would love to be on Janie's mind, like something more personal... I don't know, I like books narrated in 3rd person, but this time I'd prefer other way.
Definitely a series worth reading, maybe not a masterpiece but give it a try and enjoy reading.
