Hey ya'll! Welcome to my stop in the blog tour of Nobody but us, hosted by the awesome Shane @ Itching for books!
Nobody but usAuthor: Kristin HalbrookPages: 272Goodreads AVG Rating: 3.75Summary / Add hereThey’re young. They’re in love. They’re on the run.
Zoe wants to save Will as much as Will wants to save Zoe. When Will turns eighteen, they decide to run away together. But they never expected their escape to be so fraught with danger....
When the whole world is after you, sometimes it seems like you can’t run fast enough.
Nobody But Us, told in alternating perspectives from Will and Zoe, is an unflinching novel, in turns heartbreaking and hopeful, about survival, choices, and love...and how having love doesn’t always mean that you get a happy ending. Described as “beautiful, heartbreaking, and exhilarating” by Kody Keplinger, author of The DUFF, Nobody But Us will prove irresistible to fans of Nina Lacour, Jenny Han, and Sara Zarr.
My POV!
Well, I do not even know how to start talking about this book.
Nobody but us is a story full of romance, pain and many bad decisions.
For starters, what I first noted (and left me thinking about the consequences) was the age difference between the main characters. Will is 18, while Zoe is just 15. Of course, that is very real and although that’s illegal as well, when two people try to save themselves it seems as if there were no obstacles.
This is a realistic story, a very sad one and shows you a part of life that many young people are not used to see. From the first chapters, the author shows us two teenagers in love trying to save each other and forget their past.
Will comes from a foster family while Zoe is a girl abused by her father. Some other time I would say that Zoe is the kind of girls who have what they deserve for not lifting the face and reclaim their dignity. But at the same time, I think a lot about the circumstances of her life and how shy and good she is, and I know some people are alike... they are so quiet that leave them abuse.
For Will, I have to say that he reminded me a little of Travis from Beautiful disaster, as overprotective and aggressive personality. I'm still trying to feel really attracted to guys like this, but I cannot. However, Will was easy! Even I do not like aggressive guys, he was really good and all he’s done was trying to protect the girl he loved.
About the romance I cannot say I was disappointed. The romance was good. Will and Zoe looked great together and their love story besides being painful was pure and lovely.
I would have liked to see more characters. A link between the past lives of both protagonists, something that made them look a little more real. As real as the ending.
Heavens! I am not happy with the ending, but it is so real that I couldn’t ignore it or hate it.
Nobody but us is a book that makes you think. That talks about life, actions and consequences.
The writer's style is fluid and it was quite easy to distinguish the thoughts of Will to Zoe.
This book is something that may leave you wanting more, upset, disappointed or happy, the point is that this book will make you really FEEL (which for me is the main point of reading).
