In the future, only one rule will matter:
Don’t. Ever. Peek.
Seventeen-year-old Ari Alexander just broke that rule and saw the last person she expected hovering above her bed — arrogant Jackson Locke, the most popular boy in her school. She expects instant execution or some kind of freak alien punishment, but instead, Jackson issues a challenge: help him, or everyone on Earth will die.
Ari knows she should report him, but everything about Jackson makes her question what she’s been taught about his kind. And against her instincts, she’s falling for him. But Ari isn’t just any girl, and Jackson wants more than her attention. She’s a military legacy who’s been trained by her father and exposed to war strategies and societal information no one can know — especially an alien spy, like Jackson. Giving Jackson the information he needs will betray her father and her country, but keeping silent will start a war
My POV.
Gravity by Melissa West is one of those books
that remind you tons of awesome books you read before. But wasn’t because the
story wasn’t original, it was. The thing is that it was so good that you can’t
help but think of other great ones.
You know, I really enjoyed reading about Ari
and the way they lived in the new America, how the government trait their
people and the technology.
Plus the aliens and the role they played to the
humankind.
I must tell you that this book is unique. I was
expecting something like Obsidian, but of course, I didn’t get that, in fact if
the characters reminds me of someone in special, it was Ari to Alex from the
Covenant. That girl is brave, smart and
strong.
I liked a lot the relationship between her and
her dad, the Commander, a kind of super important person in the government. He
is rigid, but he seems to care about his family. I don’t really know why I like
him, but I did, he was Ari’s trainer, so I think he wanted the better to her
daughter.
Then… the aliens. They’re called “Ancient” and
guess what? They’re HOT, especially some hottie alien Ari cares about. The
Ancient seems to be good, all nature and pure, except to
their president… you’ll see why when you read it.
About the other characters.
Jackson… oh, Jackson. Why you have to be so
damn sweet!!
I also LOVED
Lawrence. The President’s son and Ari’s friend. He’s not the kind of selfish
boy you can think he must be. He is so good!!
And it was Gretchen. Ari’s best friend. At the
beginning I thought she was just a plain girl, but in the last chapters she
shows you how strong and brave she is, how much she loved Ari and wanted to
help her.
Gravity is a fast read with tons of action.
Mysteries, strong characters, a new world I’m sure you’d love to discover and
an original and well created plot. Melissa West did a great job creating a fast
read you’ll enjoy since the start to the end. I bet you won’t be disappointed.
Gravity's Playlist.
Now, to make my read and yours even better, I’m
showing you my Gravity playlist. Maybe the song won’t match with every scene,
but they were sounding in my head in little verses. Lines that made me think of
the books and the characters.
1. Bulletproof heart by My Chemical Romance
“Gravity doesn’t means
to much to me…”
You see right? The first line says “Gravity”
so, this is for me like the main soundtrack of the book.
2. Alien by Tokio Hotel.
“I feel lost in
myself, there’s an alien in me…”
This song reminds me of some character I cannot
tell you about cause it will be big spoiler if I do.
3. Battle for the sun by Placebo.
“I… I… I… Will battle
for the sun, I won’t stop until I’m done”
Well, this song talks about a battle for the
song, for the book is the same battle but for the earth.
4. Hunter by Dido
“I want to be a hunter
again. I want to see the world alone again”
This song reminds me of Ari and how she wants
to be free and not being seen as her father.
5. It ends tonight by All American rejects.
“When darkness turns
to light it ends tonight”
This make me think in one of the battles of the
books and how the people were dying.
6.Soldier on by The temper trap.
“Soldier on, soldier
on, keep your heart close to the ground”
This song is for Ari and her younger friends,
because even of they were just teenagers, they were soldiers.
7. Love hurt by Incubus.
“Love hurts, but
sometimes it’s a good hurt and it feels like I’m alive”
This is about Ari and Jackson.
8. Miracle by Paramore.
“I’ve gone for too
long living like I’m not alive, so I’m gonna start over tonight beginning with
you and I”
This song makes me think of Greatchen and the
one she loves. Because all they need to be together is something like a
miracle.
9. The Fixer by Pearl Jam
“When something broke
I wanna put a fixing on it”
This is exactly how I feel about the
governments, and the way they want to fix everything, even though they hurt
some people
10. Scars by Allison Iraheta.
“You say “Don’t act
like a child” but, what if it’s a father I need?”
This
song reminds me of Ari, Lawrence and Jackson, not wanting to disappoint their
families.
