Book review: Under the never sky by Veronica Rossi

Under the never sky
Author: Veronica Rossi.
Pages: 376
Goodreads AVG Rating: 4.15
Kindle Ed.
Summary: l Add here
Since she'd been on the outside, she'd survived an Aether storm, she'd had a knife held to her throat, and she'd seen men murdered. This was worse.
Exiled from her home, the enclosed city of Reverie, Aria knows her chances of surviving in the outer wasteland - known as The Death Shop - are slim. If the cannibals don't get her, the violent, electrified energy storms will. She's been taught that the very air she breathes can kill her. Then Aria meets an Outsider named Perry. He's wild - a savage - and her only hope of staying alive.
A hunter for his tribe in a merciless landscape, Perry views Aria as sheltered and fragile - everything he would expect from a Dweller. But he needs Aria's help too; she alone holds the key to his redemption. Opposites in nearly every way, Aria and Perry must accept each other to survive. Their unlikely alliance forges a bond that will determine the fate of all who live under the never sky.

My thoughts.

Okay, lets start with this.
I have never feel this way with another book. NEVER!!!!!
First, it was the cover... remember the UK edition of this book? well, that was the first time I knew about Under the never sky and I remember I thought "Ugh! ugly. I won't read that book".... Don't throw me tomatos, please!
But then, one day after I saw this beauutiful cover... yeah, the one above. Oh and how hyprocrite I am, I say "Beautiful, can't wait to read it!!"
That's my worst sin. I always judge a book by its cover. And that was the case of Under the never sky.
I must have been warned with the first cover. Not in the "I won't read it" thing. But in the realistic of the image.
I feel bittersweet. That's all.
I created a love/hate link with this story.
There is no doubt that the world created by Rossi is one, or maybe the best created one in the dystopian books. Number 1 Hunger Games fan talking, aye?

“She'd survived the outside. She'd survived the Aether and cannibals and wolves. She knew how to love now, and how to let go. Whatever came next, she would survive it, too”

But yeah, this world is fantastic, incredible, devastatingly beautiful
On Arias's side is all technology, imagination, a life full of charm.... well, to be honest, a place where I'd love to live in.
But on Perry's side... *sigh* that's the big deal. The thing is, I always thought "the crush" in one book have to be that, a crush. But I couldn't feel it with Perry. He is great! I accept it!
It's just ME and my stupid brain and all those crude images I can't keep off my mind. So, maybe you should just ignore that part.

The characters were too realistic, fantastic! All those them like a part of two diferent universes. And the "evil" of the book is bad, even though I didn't really meet him or feel his essence.
Aria was smart, strong, a very good heroine. Her mind usually was clear and makes me feel a was a part of it.
Perry, like I said was great, the problem is: he was too savage.
I told it!

“It's time, Perry". He let her go. She took a step back, taking in his face one last time. His green eyes. The bend in his nose and the scars on his cheek. All the tiny inperfections that made him beautiful. Without a word, she turned and made her way downhill.”... (Okay, maybe he is not as bad if I stop picturing himself as Tarzan!, lol)

The ending was what I expected, with action, truths and deaths. I loved it.
The writing-style, story-line or however you call it was the best. You totally must to read it, maybe you like Perry.

  1. Don't worry. I judge books by their covers all the time. I don't really see it as much of a problem as long as I don't let the cover let cloud my judgement of the book.
